AlCircle has come up with its latest sector focus report 2022, titled “The World of Aluminium Extrusions – An industry analysis with forecasts to 2027,” which focuses on the expected production capacity, output and consumption across regions, applications across end-user industries and trade dynamics.
The year 2022 brought with it a new era of optimism and ambition for the aluminium extrusion sector. 2022 witnessed the industry’s revival and recovery from its lost position in the market, which was affected by the pandemic. The report suggests that the global aluminium extrusion usage is expected to reach 31.8 million tonnes by 2022 and expand further at a rate of around 3.8 per cent per annum over the next five years, reaching 38.4 million tonnes by 2027.
The building and construction industry accounts for about 57 per cent of the total consumption of aluminium extrusions. This is followed by the transportation sector at 17 per cent and the industrial sector at 10 per cent. During the next five decades, aluminium extrusion consumption in the building and construction sector is predicted to expand at a pace of 3.5 per cent per year, while usage in the transportation sector is expected to grow at a faster rate of 5.2 per cent per year.
Globally, China accounts for 66 per cent of the aluminium extrusion usage, which is expected to rise to 68 per cent by 2027, followed by Europe with 10 percent of the total use.
